css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1502721703538{margin-bottom: 0px !important;padding-top: 40px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_inner css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1494877311579{background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]During a recent showcase in two Fort Myers transfer center locations, passengers were given the opportunity to learn about and demo QUANTUM, a\u00a0rear-facing wheelchair securement system.\u00a0LeeTran partnered with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qstraint.com\/en_na\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Q\u2019Straint<\/a> to host the\u00a0showcases.<\/p>\n<p>Event attendees included Paul Lawhorn, injured while serving in Iraq, and Johnny Jenks, who survived a three-story fall. Unfortunately, both men know\u00a0the struggle of utilizing\u00a0public transportation all too well.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI hated it,\u00a0the bus was always\u00a0packed and I thought I was slowing them down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Johnny Jenks<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While at the Rosa Parks Transfer Center demonstration event, Lawhorn and Jenks\u00a0had a opportunity\u00a0to try out the fully automatic\u00a0rear-facing securement system for themselves &#8212; and were pleasantly surprised.\u00a0If passenger feedback continues to be\u00a0positive, LeeTran will install a test QUANTUM securement system on one of their\u00a0new buses.\u00a0Fort Myers would be the first city in Florida to use the system.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe product has been out there a couple of years. We thought it could be something useful\u00a0since\u00a0it takes a few minutes now to get the belts on and get the vehicle tied down. We want people to feel comfortable, try it out. The wheelchair needs to be easy to maneuver into the unit and free to let people go on their way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Steve Myers, Transit Development Plan Director<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Myers, the\u00a0passenger securement process currently\u00a0takes between\u00a03-6\u00a0minutes, but with\u00a0QUANTUM, wheelchair and scooter passengers can be\u00a0safely secured\u00a0in less than 25 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019ll save time,&#8221;
