I just pull in, drive, push the button (to release) and I\u2019m back out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Rather than consider himself limited after suffering a spinal cord injury as a teenager, Goddard found the motivation to accomplish all he could in life. He finished high school; graduated from college, where he met and married his wife, Leanne; earned a law degree, and enjoyed a successful ten-year career in marketing and product development. \u201cI felt <span class=\"s1\">like God was calling me to do the most with what I had,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since 2005, \u201cdoing the most\u201d has meant working to improve the lives of other people with disabilities , first as a volunteer then as paid staff with the California-based Joni and Friends International Disability Center, and now through Access-Life, which he and Leanne founded in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner el_class=&#8221;qs-post-container&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1501009582841{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_inner css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1501008797206{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"font-size: 28px; line-height: 1.8em; color: #013ca6;\"><em>\u201cThe QLK means independence, freedom and safety. It means self-esteem, too, because self-esteem is something that a lot of people with disabilities have challenges with. You can\u2019t do a lot of the things that other people do and you\u2019re very dependent on other people. So when you\u2019re able to do things not only for yourself, but for somebody else, too, that really increases your self-esteem and self-worth.\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner el_class=&#8221;qs-post-container&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1501009574152{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_inner css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1494877311579{background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to Goddard, the disabled not only have difficulty participating in outdoor activities, but only one in ten of those affected by disability attends church. The free, four-hour Access-Life Expos provide a way to change that. Special boarding devices for kayaking, automatic casters and reels for fishing, pontoon boats for those in wheelchairs and a host of dry land games and activities allow participants with disabilities to enjoy experiences not often available to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With QLK, Goddard has the freedom and confidence to be there. \u201cQ\u2019Straint\u2019s innovations just make it more user friendly,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For example, Goddard says he encountered problems with the low ground clearance of his previous securement\u2019s locking bolt. \u201cI could rip up somebody\u2019s lawn going through their yards. And getting over thresholds was difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHe would be out by himself and he\u2019d be stranded because he got stuck on something,\u201d adds Leanne. Q\u2019Straint solved that problem by finding a way to increase ground clearance. \u201cThey redid ours and the bolt is about 2 inches off the ground now, which has been phenomenal,\u201d says Doug.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Goddard also appreciates the QLK\u2019s sleek control pad. \u201cThat\u2019s probably the coolest thing that we love. They\u2019re so thin. And the color blends with most interiors. You can\u2019t even tell they\u2019re there. They look like they\u2019re from the manufacturer. And then they work great. You just touch them, so that\u2019s been really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Plus, Goddard has helped mobility dealers appreciate the advantages of the QLK system. \u201cWe\u2019re getting a new van and the shop had specified a different system,\u201d he explains. \u201cAnd we said, \u2018No, no, no, we\u2019re getting the QLK.\u2019 And so they\u2019ve been able to learn about those features
