Sled Impact Test HV 9602
Hoveround Teknique
with Q'Straint tie-downs and restraints with 50th Percentile
Male. Conducted by the University of Michigan Transportation
Research Institute.
Sled Test Setup
Test #HV 9602
Wheelchair restraint: Q'Straint 4-point tie-down
Occupant restraint: Q'Straint 3-point restraint
Wheelchair type: Hoveround Teknique (243 lb/110kg)
Test Dummy: 50th Percentile at 76 kg (168 lb)
Orientation: Forward facing
Sled Platform: Rigid Steel Plate
Desired crash pulse: 48 kph (30 mph)
Desired average sled deceleration: 20 G's
Test Results
Test #HV 9602
Actual velocity differential: 44.5 kph (27.6 mph)
Actual sled deceleration: 19.2 G
Crash pulse duration: 79.5 ms
Peak force left lap belt: 6186 N (1391 lb)
Peak force left rear tie-down: 25738 M (5786 lb)
Peak force right rear tie-down: 30358 N (6826 lb)
Peak force shoulder belt: 7303 N (1642 lb)
Peak resultant chest: 47 G's
Peak resultant head: 43 G's
Head injury: 533
Conclusion
Both the wheelchair and the ATD were effectively restrained during impact. The Hoveround Teknique wheelchair showed
no signs of structural failure or significant deformation of
the main wheelchair frame. The wheelchair securement points
were intact and showed no evidence of failure, separation, or
significant deformation. The wheelchair
remained in an upright position and the ATD was kept in a seated
position throughout the impact.
Introduction
Results for front, rear and side impacts conducted on the test
seat AS2942 with back rest are presented in this section. Only
results where both lap and shoulder belts were employed to form
a complete occupant restraint are presented.
